Ingredients:
- 4 burger patties beef or plant-based
- 4 slices of smoked cheddar cheese
- 8 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Set your grill or griddle on the stove to medium-high heat to get it ready
On both sides, season the burger patties with salt and pepper
For medium-rare, grill the burger patties for three to four minutes on each side
You can change the cooking time to suit your tastes
Put a slice of smoked cheddar cheese on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking and let it melt
Spread a lot of Dijon mustard on one side of each slice of sourdough bread while the patties are cooking
Place the pan or griddle over medium-low heat and add a tablespoon of butter
Put a piece of bread in the pan with the mustard side up
Add a grilled burger patty and a few slices of Granny Smith apple on top of the bread
Add one more sourdough slice on top, this time with the mustard side facing down
The bread should be golden brown and crispy, and the cheese should be melted
Cook the sandwich for about two to three minutes on each side
Do the same thing with the rest of the bread slices and burgers
If you want, you can serve your Smoked Cheddar Grilled Cheese Burgers hot with extra Dijon mustard on the side
